At Liège-Guillemins train station, Costa Coffee has opened its first Belgian location. The international coffee brand, that is part of the The Coca-Cola Company, aims to have at least ten Belgian outlets in the near future.
Growth ambitions
The British coffee brand has been active in Belgium since September 2021, selling through cafés and via “Costa Express” vending machines in companies. Now the brand is taking a new step with the opening of its first coffee bar, in a location with plenty of passage. It is doing so in partnership with Lagardère travel retail, which operates more than 5,000 shops in airports and train stations in 42 countries around the world.
Belgium is the 35th market where Costa Coffee has coffee shops. In time, the brand hopes to open at least ten outlets here, but the growth ambitions do not end there. This year, the coffee brand will launch an intelligent coffee capsule machine called “Podio” and Costa will also be present on large music festivals.
Costa Coffee was founded in 1971 by Italian brothers Sergio and Bruno Costa. Since 2019, it has been part of The Coca-Cola Company. In Belgium, the brand is distributed by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners.
