Supermarket managers in charge
Wouter Kolk has decided to use Albert Heijn’s employee magazine, Ahá, to make his first public statements since he was appointed CEO of the Dutch company. He feels the supermarket managers have to be back in charge of their own supermarket and that they have more of a say.
It is clear Kolk wants to bury the hatchet with franchisees, as the company and franchisees have to work together if they wish to generate better results. He does not wish to discard Albert Heijn’s philosophy, but is all in favour of giving people more breathing space, to take a bit of risk alongside an increased sense of responsibility.
