“Favourable for everyone”
Belgian newspaper De Tijd has calculated that the new group, if it were to become reality, would have a yearly turnover of 3.7 billion euro. It was already revealed last month that Deprez was considering a Greenyard merger, but now he wants to include Peatinvest and climb to the worldwide number one spot.
“A combined group with fresh, frozen and canned fruit and vegetables will benefit everyone: farmers, retailers, consumers, employees and shareholders alike. We are convinced trends in society demand a holistic approach on fruit and vegetable consumption.”
Currently, the three companies are already working on an agreement that should value all companies and which should create an outline for the merger. Nevertheless, no final decision has been made.
