As part of a global cost-cutting plan, Nike now also has announced job cuts in Europe, but it is still not made public how many jobs will disappear at its European headquarters in Hilversum.
2 billion euros
Nike had already announced that it would reduce its workforce worldwide by around 2 % in February. Under the “Save to invest” programme, more than 1,600 jobs would disappear, office jobs rather than in shops. The cost-cutting plan is expected to generate two billion euros in savings.
Meanwhile, the sports brand has already cut 750 jobs in the United States, and now the restructuring plan is also reaching Europe, Bloomberg reports. Jobs are also at risk at the European headquarters in Hilversum, where about 2,000 people work, but the news agency could not reveal how many redundancies are planned. Nike itself has not yet communicated about the new round of layoffs.
