Almost a decade after its launch, Medi-Market is on its way to pass the milestone of 400 million euros in turnover. The chain hopes to reach the half a billion mark through strong growth in Belgium, Italy and Spain.
150 new stores in Italy
When Medi-Market opened its first store in Charleroi in December 2014, it stated the ambition of “opening up the healthcare market” in Belgium. Ten years later, the group has nearly 150 outlets in Belgium, Italy and Luxembourg – together, they accounted for 330 million euros in sales in 2023.
“In the first five months of 2024, our group achieved growth of more than 30 % compared to the same period in 2023. It is therefore very likely that we will cross the 400 million euro mark by the end of this year”, CEO Cédric Antoine pointed out. Not only is he looking for further growth in the Belgian home market, but “we are also growing in Italy, where we plan to open 150 new shops within five years.”
Currently, the chain has 68 parapharmacies, 28 pharmacies and nine beauty salons in Belgium, 27 parapharmacies in Italy and 10 in Luxembourg. The retailer is also already looking at a new market: Spain.
