The DOWNLOAD EP01 line consists of 9 accessories, like a comb or a key chain. The designs can be purchased online and then the consumer can just create the accessory using a 3D printer. Pieters collaborated with Spanish Comme des Machines, which aims to use technology to create a more sustainable fashion industry.
“The distance between the creator/producer/consumer is now shortened because of 3D printing. We are able to produce a personalised service without any minimum order quantity“, one of the four founders of Comme des Machines said in an interview with the Honest by website. “This cutting edge technology is efficient and creative. The haute couture of the 21st Century but affordable to everyone.”
Comme des Machines has already created other degradable materials, like buttons, belts and labels using 3D printers.
