Renovation budget: 460 million euro
The permit has now given the company the freedom to renovate the building, something that had been halted for more than 2 years after several groups filed a complaint as they believed the new project would not fit the urban landscape. The LVMH Group will invest some 460 million euro into the renovation, which will start in the upcoming weeks and will last 3 years.
The Samaritaine building is located in between the Seine River and the Rue de Rivoli and is one of Paris’ most iconic department stores. It opened in 1870 and was the largest of its day, with more than 48,000 sqm of floor space.
