Belgian pet shop chain Tom&Co has appointed a new CEO: on 2 September, Jean Richard de Latour will take Thierry le Grelle’s place. The current CEO will remain active as a member of the board of directors.
“The right moment”
De Latour comes over from the Carrefour group, where he has been in charge of retail media division Carrefour Links, of Carrefour Romania and of Carrefour France’s hypermarkets. The chain says that it has been planning the “seamless CEO succession” for a while, and that “this is the right moment to hand the torch to Jean”.
Le Grelle does remain on board at the retailer, of which he is a co-owner: he will become co-chairman on the board of directors, which already includes chairman Jesper Højer (former Lidl CEO) and director Pascal Clouzard (former Carrefour France CEO).
Tom&Co is the Belgian market leader in pet food, but it is also growing strongly in France and has big European ambitions. Since its recent acquisition of Pharmapets, the company owns the largest online pet pharmacy in Belgium, the Netherlands and France.
