Babykid, a Belgian chain with eleven baby and childcare shops, has been declared bankrupt. Seventy people will lose their jobs.
Looking for new owners
The chain had launched several judicial procedures this year, with the intention of reaching an agreement with its creditors, but to no avail: the chain with eleven shops in the French-speaking southern part of Belgium is bankrupt. Two receivers have been appointed to look for a possible buyer, but hopes are slim as at least one million euros would be needed for a relaunch, Sudinfo reports.
The current owners only acquired Babykid in 2019, as they saw potential in a ‘phygital’ concept with an emphasis on birth gift lists. In fact, they said they wanted to become the ‘Dreambaby of the children’s market’, but now their ambitions have been cut short.
