Shoe brand Skechers is building a larger distribution centre in Liège, Belgium, to support its strong European growth. The company may even retain its current warehouses in the same region, if growth demands that.
30 % growth
The world’s third largest shoe brand is building a state-of-the-art 200,000 sqm distribution centre near Liège Airport, twelve kilometres from its current distribution centre. The American brand seeks to continue its huge growth: in the third quarter of 2024, Skechers achieved a 30 % sales growth in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) regions, COO David Weinberg reports in a press release. Skechers hopes to move to the new location in phases, starting in 2028.
Skechers will reach sales of over eight billion euros this year, reaching nine billion in 2026. The brand’s strong growth is due to a focus on product innovation – with technical sports footwear for a variety of disciplines – and on affordable prices. It is also possible that the brand is partly benefiting from the current malaise at rival Nike.
