IzyCoffee is launching a new funding round of as much as 3.3 million euros. The coffee chain aims to grow to 38 outlets by the end of 2025, both in Belgium and abroad.
Growth through alternative financing
What started as a coffee truck in Izegem has grown into a chain of 22 branches in six years. Moreover, IzyCoffee’s turnover grew by almost 80% to 4.5 million euro in 2024, while its EBITDA margin improved from 11.5% in 2023 to more than 15% in 2024. A significant part of this growth has been achieved by IzyCoffee thanks to alternative financing methods, including already several crowdfunding campaigns.
The first campaign in 2019 raised 150,000 euros, which enabled the chain to open two new locations. Subsequent campaigns, including 350,000 euros in 2021 and 500,000 euros in 2023, enabled the opening of coffee bars on the Meir in Antwerp and the Lange Munt in Ghent, among others.
Focus on triple A locations
Today, the Flemish chain is seeking more funds than ever: the latest funding round, launched on 17 December 2024, aims to raise 1 million euros through Winwinner. Those funds leverage additional funding from both KBC and PMV, with a total target of 3.3 million euros.
The capital will be used to open 16 new premises by 2025, in Belgian but also foreign cities. In doing so, IzyCoffee will focus exclusively on flagship stores in high-traffic locations. According to management, during peak days, such locations can feasibly sell between 500 and 1,000 cups of coffee.
