The New Originals from Austria has acquired Dutch tofu producer SoFine, which has brands like SoFine and ProLaterre. This acquisition includes the production facility in Landgraaf.
Expanding the portfolio
With this acquisition, the Austrian company expands its portfolio with sliced, diced and minced tofu, as well as tofu in water. The New Originals CEO Matthias Krön points out that SoFine contributes “important innovations” to his company’s portfolio. The CEO also feels the new acquisition can contribute to the further development of the entire category, Vegconomist reports.
SoFine was previously owned by the Swiss Elsa group, who described the match with the Austrians as so “excellent” that they felt compelled to agree to the sale. The New Originals already operates production sites in Germany, Romania, and Slovakia, and will now gain access to new markets such as Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The acquisition price has not been disclosed.
