Now that its first new collections have arrived, Belgian fashion brand Gigue is looking forward to opening its own shops again. The slimmed-down brand is aiming for three own stores.
Back to Antwerp
After its owner went bankrupt last year, fashion label Gigue is back. Under the wings of new owner Castellino, creative director Audrey Wyckmans is building a new future for the brand her father founded 33 years ago. The summer collection is already available in more than eighty multi-brand boutiques – and in the only remaining Gigue store in Ghent.
The brand’s team has shrunk considerably and is working from a temporary office in Kontich, near Antwerp, Wyckmans tells Gazet van Antwerpen, but she says that allows the brand to be more agile. Castellino wants the brand to work autonomously, without overarching functions or hierarchy.
At the same time, the brand is aiming to open own stores. Wyckmans hopes to be able to get to three own stores – far fewer than the eight before the bankruptcy – and is specifically aiming to re-open the brand’s former store in Antwerp’s Schuttershofstraat.
