In Ahold Delhaize‘s annual results, the good figures for online platform Bol stand out as the division experienced the strongest quarter in its history.
Huge profit hike
The accumulated sales of the merchants on Bol’s platform rose by 4.1 % to 5.9 billion euros last year. That resulted in a net sales increase of 8.7 % to 3.1 billion euros for the company. Underlying gross profit (EBITDA) increased by 22% to 185 million euros. Last year, comparable growth was 21.5 %.
Bol ended the year with its best-ever quarter, following an 11 % sales growth. Its excellent performance contributed to the strong growth of online at parent company Ahold Delhaize: total online sales in Europe rose by almost 10 % to 5.1 billion euros, while the trading volume reached eight billion euros.
