Real estate group Wereldhave has purchased the Knauf shopping centres in Pommerloch and Schmiede from Nextensa for 167 million euros. Together, these two shopping centres in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg encompass 74,000 sqm and 125 stores.
“Full Service Centres”
Wereldhave itself will take over Knauf Schmiede, while its subsidiary, Wereldhave Belgium, will become the owner of Knauf Pommerloch. CEO Matthijs Storm says the acquisition aligns with Wereldhave’s ‘LifeCentral’ strategy, which focuses on investing in “full service centres” with growth potential.
Located near Bastogne, Knauf Pommerloch offers 33,000 sqm of leasable space and hosts around seventy tenants across sectors such as fashion, food, beauty, decoration, jewellery, leisure, multimedia and service. The complex also features a business centre spanning 3,130 sqm. Notable tenants include C&A, Delhaize, H&M, La Varenne Group, New Yorker, Q8 and Sportsdirect. The shopping centre was built in 2002 and was expanded in 2020.
Knauf Schmiede, in Luxembourg’s northernmost point and near Belgium and Germany, covers 41,000 sqm and underwent a complete renovation and expansion in 2022. This centre comprises approximately 55 stores and offers 18 % mixed-use space. Tenants again include Delhaize, H&M, La Varenne Group, Q8 and Sportsdirect, but also Arkadium, Brico and Tom & Co.
