The products of JDE Peet’s are again available in most European supermarkets, now that there is also an agreement with German market leader Edeka. The dispute with Ahold Delhaize is not yet over.
Substantial price increases
‘In recent weeks, our consumers did not find our favourite products on the shelves at some retailers. We are pleased to report that we have now reached agreements with retailers for 90% of our global sales. We are confident that our consumers in Europe will soon find our products again on shelves in supermarkets,’ JDE Peet’s reported in a press release.
Just recently, the coffee producer also reached an agreement with Edeka, Germany’s largest supermarket chain. Products from Jacobs, Senseo and Tassimo will soon reappear in stores there. The agreement is not a big surprise: earlier, Dutch retailers Jumbo and Picnic, which like Edeka are members of purchasing organisation Everest, had also reported an agreement. However, they had to accept price increases of 20% to 30%.
Only the Delhaize and Albert Heijn stores in Belgium and the Netherlands still lack JDE Peet’s products: talks are still ongoing there.
