Collect&Go, Colruyt Group‘s online grocery delivery service, has expanded its home delivery in Belgium with 78 extra municipalities. To do so, the retailer is calling on private delivery drivers.
5000 Drivers
In 78 additional municipalities in East Flanders, Flemish Brabant, West Flanders and Hainaut, families can now have groceries delivered to their homes by Collect&Go. New regions will be added in the coming months, the retailer said in a press release. More than half of Belgian families can already opt for home delivery. In East Flanders, this concerns almost all families.
For this formula, Collect&Go calls on private Drivers. They deliver groceries to their home in their neighbourhood and receive remuneration for it. In this way, they expand their local social network and help people in their neighbourhood. Today, more than 5,000 Drivers are active. ‘The system is a form of sharing economy’, says Tom De Prater, manager of Collect&Go. ‘Drivers also choose all the orders they deliver themselves.’
Home delivery is in addition to the more than 240 Collect&Go pick-up points, where customers can collect their online reserved groceries from Colruyt Lowest Prices or Bio-Planet.
