Dutch non-food discounter Action has managed to raise its operational profit by 29 % last year, while sales went up 22 %. The chain wants to maintain its growth rate of one store opening per day this year, adding two new countries both this year and in 2026.
A new store per day
The chain had already announced a strong increase in turnover, but has now revealed that its operating profit managed to rise even faster. That metric grew by 29 % to 2.076 billion euros.
The chain also achieved success in terms of sustainability: its short-term climate targets have now been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). In addition, Action is increasing its target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its own activities, which this was previously set at 60 % by 2030. That ambition is now a 75 % reduction, as the chain was already approaching that 2030 target now.
The chain also maintains its plans to open at least one store per day this year. It will also move into two new markets this year (Switzerland in April and Romania after the summer) and has just announced two more countries for 2026: Croatia and Slovenia.
