The largest by far
Those same insiders quote a 70 billion pound bid (95 billion euro). British stock exchange rules state AB InBev has until 14 October to formally place a bid, but apparently, it will not wait as long.
The British Sunday Times paper says both companies had been engaged in talks, which makes it seem like the British company is not opposed to a possible acquisition by the Belgian-Brazilian brewery group. Together, the new company would become the world’s largest beer company by far, with Heineken a far distant second.
The major advantage for both companies is that they would dominate the world market, as AB InBev is particularly strong in South American markets, while SABMiller does well in African markets.
