Increase production capabilities
“We will not be able to deliver all of the orders coming from customers in the remainder of the year”, spokesperson Roar Trangbaek told British paper The Guardian. “It is really extraordinary and it has exceeded both ours and our customers’ forecasts.”
Lego announced it will expand the production capabilities of three factories so that it can meet demand in the future. It will also add a new factory in China to service the Asian market.
Lego’s increased success over the past few years comes from its expansion into new franchises. It now has Star Wars packages, but also from its own The Lego Movie characters. Over the first six months of its fiscal year, Lego’s turnover already grew 18 % to 1.88 billion euro.
