More and expensive parts
Specialist website Tweakers looked into the study and tracked down the average price of several well-known brands (like Apple, HTC, Samsung and Nokia). On average, the price of a high-end smartphone grew van 508 euro in 2010 to 690 euro in 2015.
The high prices are partly because smartphones now use a metallic body: its development requires more time and money, which means the prices also increase. The growing number of hardware components in a smartphone also help jack up the price. For instance, the cameras are better, but also more expensive.
Component prices are hard to trace and are never revealed by the manufacturers, but IHS’ analysts reveal estimates on a regular basis. Those show that the price for a camera and screen have both grown a lot, while flash memory has become very cheap.
