Growth in Belgium and the Netherlands
Darty Group’s total turnover grew 1.2 % in the first half of the year, to 1.66 billion euro. Its like-for-like turnover also grew 1.1 %, an improvement over the 1.1 % slump last year.
Group profit grew 36 % to 36.1 million euro. In France, Darty’s most important market, profit grew 51 % while Belgian profit also grew, thanks to Vanden Borre. Its Dutch branch experienced a loss, which it blamed on difficulties implementing a new order processing system.
In November, Darty accepted an acquisition bid by its competitor Fnac, which will pay 859 million euro to acquire the company.
