Growing market
Last year, Stefano Gabbana already mentioned the arrival of this new collection in an interview with The National. “The Middle East fascinates me and we will launch a ready-to-wear collection with abayas and sheylas”, he said in July 2015. “A few items will have lace, embroidery and several, not too many, will have prints.”
Dolce & Gabbana is not the first fashion brand that chooses to develop fashion for the Muslim woman, a largely untapped market, although an increasing number of brands see a future of growth in the region. H&M and Uniqlo, among others, have already developed clothing for the Muslim woman, while Chanel also has a collection that tries to fulfill the needs and requirements of the Islamic world.
