Bankrupted department store chain V&D has finally found a new owner and will therefore relaunch. Entrepreneur Roland Kahn, mostly known for his clothing chain Coolcat, is the chain’s new owner.
Negotiations with the rental parties
It remains unclear how many V&D stores will remain open after the relaunch, but RTL Z claims an employee letter mentions that not all rental parties are willing to rent out their location to V&D again. Therefore, the number of department stores will probably hinge on how the negotiations with the real estate owners develop.
This puts an end to the rumours, which were later confirmed by the guardians, namely that a deal was imminent. Roland Kahn’s name was already mentioned during the talks with the La Place location owners, but he rubbished that claim himself, while La Place is now in the hands of Jumbo.
Kahn not only owns Coolcat, but also owns the America Today, MS Mode and Sapph chains, while he also said he was working on a new men-focused formula.
