‘Frunparks’ in Belgium, France…
De Vlier, founded in 1979 by Leo Van Tuyckom
and currently managed by Peter De Roo, started building retail parks, named
Frunparks, just outside city centres in 2000. The concept starts from a uniform
architecture surrounding a central (free) car park. That concept is
further expanded by global administration and a common marketing approach.
De Vlier already has five parks in Belgium,
with four more to come. The company is also active in France, where it
currently has one retail park, with four more in development.
…and now Austria
In Austria the first park of the group will be
built in Asten, near Linz. The project will cover 18,000 m², with a car park
able to hold 550 cars. The park has to be operational by the end of this year and
will offer room to about 27 shops. Müller, New Yorker, C&A, Fussl,
Deichmann, BabyOne, Libro, Pagro, Tchibo, Takko, Depot, Intersport, Shoe4You
and Futterhaus have already signed up.
The project has an excellent location, right next
to freeway A1 and near XXLLutz and Möbilix, two other large shops. It has a
possible market of 155,000 consumers.
