Several hundred products of supermarket chain Morrisons will soon also be available on Amazon UK, after both parties signed a deal.
Amazon Pantry expansion
Morrisons’ products will be available to Amazon Prime Now and Amazon Pantry customers, which is another huge stride for Amazon in the United Kingdom’s fresh food market.
The company launched its UK version of Amazon Pantry back in November. Customers pay a yearly 79 pound (100 euro) subscription to get their groceries delivered at home for free. At launch, it had about 4,000 products available, but this deal will add a significant amount to that product range.
Morrisons also stands to profit from the deal as the supermarket chain can now cheaply offer a range of its portfolio online. “This is a low risk and capital light wholesale supply arrangement that demonstrates the opportunity we have to become a broader business” Morrisons CEO David Potts told The Guardian.
