Dutch store chain Action saw its 2015 turnover grow 32 % to 1.99 billion euro, mainly thanks to a large number of new store openings in 2015.

There was also a like-for-like growth, but with 7.6 %, that was well below the turnover growth. In 2015, Action opened 141 new stores: doubling its number of French stores to 120, adding 17 in the Netherlands, 23 in Belgium and 31 in Germany. The very first stores in Austria and Luxembourg also opened in 2015 and its first non-Dutch distribution center opened its doors in Paris.
“Our strong international growth, with an increased number of non-Dutch stores, helped transform our organization from a typically Dutch company into a European discounter. We have to strengthen our organization, continuously focusing on our unique position, if we want to remain an international enterprise. Combined with our geographical expansion, these will be our priorities for the next few years”, CEO Sander van der Laan said.
Dutch turnover grew 10 % to 1.15 billion euro, while Belgian turnover did even better, growing 37 % to 401 million euro. German turnover doubled to 165 million euro and France managed an astonishing 212 % turnover growth to 281 million euro.
