25 years after French supermarket chain Leclerc left the Franch capital’s center, it has returned to Paris with a new store opening. The goal is to fight back against Carrefour and Casino, who have all but secured dominion over the capital.
Chose up-and-coming neighbourhood
Leclerc’s new supermarket is located in a 3,000 sqm store in Paris’ 19th district, in the Rosa Parks neighbourhood. The supermarket will have 2,000 sqm of actual store space in one of Paris’ up-and-coming neighbourhoods.
Ever since Leclerc decided to pull out of the French capital 25 years ago, competitors Carrefour and Casino basically took control over the entire city when it comes to supermarkets. With its new store, it hopes to steal back part of the competitors’ market share in Paris.
