Chinese eCommerce giant Alibaba continues its Benelux expansion and has attracted Jack Peters to become its business development director.
“A company for the present and the future”
Peters already has a respectable retail career, having worked for Blokker, Aldi and Metro. He will now work out of Amsterdam, which is a sign the Benelux operations are becoming ever more important for the Chinese company. “The decision to join Alibaba was an easy one to make. This is a company of the now and of the future, with a successful ecommerce ecosystem and a high ambition for future sustainable growth”, Peters added.
“Jack brings extensive management and sales experience to the role of Business Development Director, along with his large network both in food and non-food retail. His high energy, enormous drive and extensive knowledge of the retail landscape in the region make him a real asset to help drive the growth of Alibaba in the region”, Alibaba Benelux CEO Roland Palmer said.
Alibaba expanded in the Benelux because it wants to guide local companies to the fast-growing Chinese consumer market. There is a huge demand in China for high quality items, like dairy, chocolate, beer, flowers, consumer electronics, baby products and children’s toys. The Amsterdam office opened only a month ago.
