Chinese online giant Alibaba has no plans to slow down the company’s growth: the company want to double its transaction volume by 2020, up to 6 trillion yuan (800 billion euro).
2 billion customers in 20 years’ time
In order to get to that number, Alibaba aims to increase its number of active users from 423 million now to 2 billion by 2036. In the meantime, founder Jack Ma aims to continue the fight against counterfeit products: his company has received backlash for years and has been considered the perfect platform for counterfeit sales several times in the past, a label Ma wants to get rid of.
“We are increasingly confident we can tackle the problem of counterfeit items and intellectual property theft”, Jack Ma said in an investor call. Recently, Ma stepped down as speaker at the International Anticounterfeiting Coalition (IACC)’s conference after a number of members resisted his appearance. The IACC also decided to rescind Alibaba’s membership afterwards.
