German discounter Aldi has launched its own furniture collection in Australia. The collection contains several replicas from well-known designer furniture, but sold at a fraction of their actual price.
Temporary collection
Aldi’s Designer Living Room Range is a collection filled with affordable furniture, including chairs, floor lights, television tables and closets. It uses well-known designer furniture as an inspiration, but sells them up to 20 times cheaper.
Analysts says Ikea should start to worry if Aldi decides to focus on furniture sales, but it seems that it is merely a temporary collection at this point. Aldi often does something temporary, often causing stampedes on its stores. The furniture collections are only available in Australia for the time being, and it is not clear whether Aldi will sell them in other countries as well.
