The second annual Amazon Prime Day has become the online retailer’s best day ever. Compared to last year, its worldwide number of orders increased 60 %.
Excellent day for Amazon devices
It also turned out to be the best day ever for Amazon devices like the Fire TV, the Fire tablets or the Kindle e-readers. The company sold 2.5 times more Amazon Fire Tv’s than on last year’s Prime Day.
“Prime itself is the best deal in the history of shopping, and Prime Day was created as a special benefit exclusively for our Prime members,” said Greg Greeley, Vice President, Amazon Prime. “We want to thank our tens of millions of members around the world for making this the biggest day in the history of Amazon.”
Analysts had forecast Prime Day’s turnover to reach the 1 billion dollar milestone, but there were issues with the website throughout the day because of the huge surge in customers. Possibly, that has ruined the company’s chance of reaching that milestone.
