Audio tagging
Imagine this: you are watching a show on television and would
like to know where you can get that great blazer the host is wearing. Now you
can, using the new application of Shazam.
The app does – rather counterintuitively – not use images, rather use audio tagging, much like the other app of the company. When you
tag the sound of a show, this will lead to a database with information linked
to it – including biographies, the furniture in the show… but also the
clothes worn.
The application not only gives you all the
information about the piece of clothing, but also lets you know where you can
buy it. This way Shazam cuts out the normal search engine and the app makes
sure people can keep on watching the show.
“With Shazam, individuals can
access a cast list, details of the soundtrack, read tweets from the actors,
check out the script, buy onscreen product and a whole lot more on their
individual mobile devices without disrupting anyone else’s viewing”, says CEO
of Shazam Andrew Fisher.
