German consumer organization Verbraucherzentrale has announced to sue Amazon because of its Amazon Dash launch, as it feels the order button violates several laws.
Not enough information for customers
The button allows customers to order one particular with a simple press, but it does not indicate there is an instant payment, even though it is mandatory for online sales by German law. The customer also needs to be informed of several details, like the total price, prior to an order’s finalization. However, the Amazon Dash only provides that information after the order is shipped.
The Dash button’s terms and conditions state that an item’s price and shipping cost may vary, but that the customer will be informed if the changes exceed 10 %. Amazon also has the right to send a different product, if the requested item is not available: also conditions the NRW cannot agree to.
As the American company is not able or willing to alter its conditions, the Verbraucherzentrale has decided to take Amazon to court to halt the use Amazon Dash in its current state.
