Facebook launched ‘Marketplace’, a place where users can sell or buy stuff. The huge increase in online groups where people sell items prompted Facebook to launch this particular initiative.

“We’re facilitating the connection between buyer and seller, and then they can figure out how to do the transaction themselves“, Facebook said. Basically, its newest addition is similar to other online marketplaces with second-hand sales, but Facebook decided to move forward with Marketplace because currently more than 450 million people buy or sell items through groups on a monthly basis.
A user only has to click the store icon in the app to access the Marketplace. Every offer in the user’s vicinity will be displayed and a search option to browse certain items, while one can also extend the product range with offers from other cities.
In order to sell an item, one needs to take a few pictures and fill a few pieces of information, although that will only be possible in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand for the time being, as those are the only regions with Marketplace right now.
