Newcomer
for ‘wearables’?
Deneve has
been at the helm of Yves Saint Laurent since April 2011. Before that he had the
lead over fashion labels Courreges, Lanvin and Nina Ricci. He is no stranger to
the technology sector either: between 1990 and 1997 the Belgian was responsible
for marketing and sales of Apple in Europe.
Deneve’s
main focus will be wearable technology or ‘wearables’ for short. These are
accessories with built-in sensors, displays and other digital technology. This
includes the Apple watch iWatch, but also the internet glasses of Google and
the FuelBand of Nike, which indicates how many calories you have burnt.
Swiss
business bank Credit Suisse estimates there is a market between 25 and 40
billion euro for those products in the next three to five years.
