Famous Parisian concept store Colette has decided to close on 20 December, after twenty years in the business. The owner has decided she is too old to stay in the fierce fashion business.
Founder retires
“All good things must come to an end. After twenty exceptional years, Colette will shut down for good on 20 December”, the press release mentions. “Colette Roussaux has reached an age where rest is required. Colette can no longer exist without Colette herself.” The store’s approach will not alter: “Nothing will change until the last day. The store will update its content every week with exclusive collaborations and products that will also be available on our website.”
Colette, located in in de Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris, has built up a enormous reputation in fashion, but also in art, design and music. Back in 2001, it launched its first music compilation. In 2008, the store was remodeled entirely and in 2010, it launched a collection of scarfs with Hermès. Four years later, it exclusively launched the Apple Watch. Colette also collaborated with brands like Ikea and H&M.
