In the second quarter of 2017, web shop Zalando’s turnover did not grow as much as it did in previous quarters, according to the company’s preliminary results. Zalando also announced a new subscription service.

According to the preliminary results, Zalando’s second quarter turnover has grown 19 to 21 %, reaching 1.091 to 1.109 billion euro. That is still a nice growth compared to the year before, but still down from the 23.1 % first quarter turnover growth. Its adjusted operating profit was between 80 and 86 million euro.
“We are pleased with the performance in the first half of 2017 and continue to invest in order to meet our ambitious growth targets for the full year and beyond. In the fast-growing online segment, we continue to outperform the market and deliver on our 20-25% growth corridor”, CEO Rubin Ritter said.
Zalando will also launch a new subscription service, called Zalando Zet, similar to Amazon Prime. Subscribers will get rapid deliveries, earlier access to discounts and personalized fashion advice. The company will trial the service in Berlin, Leipzig and Hannover for several months and after three months, it will become available to everyone. It will cost nineteen euro annually.
