Dutch lingerie chain Hunkemöller aims to open a chain of physical stores in Switzerland, after having already opened a Swiss web shop in September 2016. The first physical store will open its doors in October.
Stable market
The goal is to open four stores in Switzerland this year and another eight to ten next year. The company thinks there is room for no more than fifty stores in Switzerland, mainly in the Zürich region. “Switzerland is often seen as a relatively small market, but its higher purchasing power turns it into one of the most stable and prosperous European markets”, Hunkemöller said in a press release.
Switzerland is not the only market Hunkemöller has targeted for investment. The chain, recently acquired by Carlyle Group, wants to quintuple its number of Spanish stores by 2021. It currently has more than 800 stores worldwide.
