Brewery Heineken has put up a factory in the Russian city of Kaliningrad up for sale. The weak market forced it to halt production several months ago and things are apparently not looking up.
Wanted: four million euro
The company does not expect the economic situation to improve and has now decided to sell the factory. It hopes to get at least 250 million ruble (nearly 4 million euro), which it will invest in other projects.
Russian sales have suffered for quite some time because of the weak economic situation, but stricter legislation also makes it harder for Heineken to sell a lot of beer in Russia.
Heineken’s share dropped a lot in September after Mexican Femsa decided to sell somme of its shares in order to invest the funds in Mexico.
