Sidney Toledano, who has led French fashion label Christian Dior for the past nineteen years, will hand over the reins to current Fendi CEO Pietro Beccari in February. The move is part of a major reshuffle operation at the head of LVMH.
“Driving force behind global success”
Toledano, 66 years old, joined Christian Dior in 1993 and became CEO in 1998. Bernart Arnault, CEO of parent company LVMH, describes him as the “driving force behind the huge success of Christian Dior Couture across the world. Over the past 25 years, he has done an outstanding job of developing the exceptional House of Christian Dior Couture and of promoting its elegance and modernity through its highly talented team of designers.”
Christian Dior has about 200 boutiques across the world and generated nearly 2 billion euro in sales last year. Earlier this year, French luxury group LVMH acquired Dior for about 6.5 billion euro.
Current Fendi CEO, Pietro Beccari, will succeed Sidney Toledano. “The appointment of Pietro Beccari as head of Christian Dior Couture signals a new era,” added Bernard Arnault. “He will be an excellent leader who will steer Dior towards ever greater success in the future.” It is not clear who will succeed him at Fendi.
Toledano will still work for the world’s largest luxury concern. He will become chairman and CEO of LVMH’s Fashion Group, which includes not only Christian Dior Couture and Fendi, but also major brands like Kenzo, Givenchy and Marc Jacobs. He will take over from Pierre-Yves Roussel, who has been there for ten years and who will become CEO Bernard Arnault’s “special advisor” next year.
