Zalando has further expanded its collaboration with physical retailers in Germany. Shoe stores were already able to ship through Zalando and now clothes stores can too.
Additional sales channel
Ever since October 2016, shoe stores could sell their items on Zalando and then ship them from the store. That system will now be rolled out to clothing stores too. “With this cooperation, Zalando is primarily supporting small retailers with limited technological infrastructure in entering the online business and offering them an additional sales channel”, says Jan Bartels, VP of Customer Fulfillment and Logistics at Zalando. “By adding textile items as a new category, we are now opening our platform to additional partners.”
More than one hundred stores have already joined the program and Bartels feels they need to, because an increasing number of customers shop online while the majority of products are still available in offline stores. “Our Integrated Commerce pilot combines the strengths of online and offline by making it easy for stores to access the online business.”
