Irish fashion chain Primark will open a new store in Antwerp on 30 April. The store will be much larger than its current Belgian stores and serves as its flagship store in the country.
Larger store, more choice
Primark is currently already present in Brussels, Hasselt and Ghent, but the Antwerp store should be the next step for the discount chain. “The Antwerp store will be much larger and have a wider product range. The store in Brussels is 1,600 sqm, but the Antwerp store will be 6,000 sqm”, Primark Benelux director Gerry Butler said. The wider product range will include children’s and baby clothing, kitchen appliances, bed linen, skin care products and make-up. The store will also sell a range of more expensive products.
Primark had to find 550 employees to work in the store, with 120 FTEs. It needed only eight days to find all the employees it required. “The average age will be between 25 and 35 years old. We do not require experience per say, but a willingness to work and an interest in fashion are necessary”, Primark added.
