Online shop Coolblue’s turnover grew an astonishing 38 % last year, up to 1.2 billion euro. Its operational cashflow grew to 21 million euro, thanks to a sizeable investment program.
“Very, very, very, very, very, very best Coolblue year”
2017 was a performant year for Coolblue: it added three mega halls, grouped its two distribution centers, opened eight household appliance depots and put a new package machine to work. At the same time, the company invested to expand its delivery service: CoolblueBezorgt currently has 150 buses, 600 delivery people and 8 warehouses spread across the Netherlands and Belgium. The company also ventured into Brussels and the Walloon market for the first time last year. Finally, it also introduced a new store formula in Amsterdam and The Hague.
Its 38 % turnover growth in 2017 was not as high as its + 50 % performances in 2016 and 2015, but when one looks at the numbers, growing from 857 million to 1.2 billion euro is the largest growth up until now.
It therefore makes full sense that CEO Pieter Zwart talks about the “very, very, very, very, very, very best Coolblue year ever. We have generated our largest turnover increase since our foundation and have never added this many customers. For that, I wish to thank the 3,500 Coolblue employees.” The CEO targets a 25 % turnover growth for 2018, which would elevate turnover to 1.5 billion euro.
