Italian fashion brand Versace will no longer use fur: designer Donatella Versace no longer wants to kill animals for fashion, she explained in an interview with The Economist.
“Fur? I am out of that””
Donatella Versace no longer feels good using fur, she said. “Fur? I am out of that. I don’t want to kill animals to make fashion. It doesn’t feel right”, she told The Economist’s lifestyle magazine, 1843 Magazine. Even though the fashion label had always used fur and still displays fur-laced coats on its website, the brand wants to get rid of it.
It still remains to be seen whether the designer can keep her word, because the Italian fashion label’s previous winter collection contained fur and the brand itself has not issued its stance.
An increasing number of brands have stepped away from fur recently, including Armani, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, Gucci and Ralph Lauren.
