Zalando launched its beauty product range in Germany today, which it announced in October. Markets outside of Germany will follow later.
4,000 beauty products
Zalando sells more than 4,000 bueautu products from more than 150 brands, but it will also open a physical concept store in Berlin in June. The company will also organise workshops at that concept store.
In order to introduce the online customer to its web shop’s products, Zalando will send samples as well. This way, it hopes to avoid returns, because customers were not familiar with the scent they bought, according to Emerce.
CEO Rubin Ritter said that the move towards cosmetics is a natural step for Zalando and that customers demand was there for quite some time. “It is allowing us to complement our current assortment and strengthen our position as a one-stop destination for fashion and lifestyle”, Zalando said.
