Charleroi’s shopping center Rive Gauche has done very well last year and will now get a new owner. It attracted 650,000 visitors a month last year, becoming the second most popular shopping center in Belgium.
“Fantastic first year”
Project developer Iret Development has sold the inner-city shopping center to CBRE Global Investors for 300 million euro, according to De Tijd. The shopping center manager, Group Hugo Ceusters-SCMS, had just published a press release boasting excellent numbers: it averaged nearly 650,000 visitors a month, second only to Wijnegem Shopping Center (with 667,000 monthly visitors), also managed by Group Hugo Ceusters-SCMS.
“Rive Gauche had a fantastic first year. The local Devimo management team will be able to count on Hugo Ceusters-SCMS, which has a lot of experience handling Wijnegem Shopping Center’s marketing and commercialization over the past few years”, Group Hugo Ceusters-SCMS CEO Ingrid Ceusters said. The group acquired Devimo Consult a year ago.
Rive Gauche was nominated as “Best European Shopping Center” at Mipim, the world’s largest real estate convention in Cannes. Thomas Cornil, the shopping center’s manager, was also elected manager of the year in Charleroi.
