French fashion label Berluti, which is part of luxury group LVMH, has appointed Belgian Kris Van Assche as its new creative director, succeeding Haider Ackermann, who will leave the company.
Position switch
Van Assche will stay with LVMH, having left Christian in March, vacating his position as artistic director for the brand’s men’s collections. He spent eleven years with Christian Dior, but will now move to another one of LVMH’s brands. Kim Jones, who comes from another LVMH subsidiary Louis Vuitton, will succeed him at Dior Homme.
“I have always wanted to build bridges between the knowledge and heritage of the brand and my contemporary vision. Antoine Arnault spoke about his Berluti ambitions and it is with great pleasure I now accept this new challenge, which fits my own will and vision perfectly”, Van Assche said in a press release.
He will need to reinvigorate Berluti, where Ackarmann was pushed aside after only two years. The Colombian-French design was also trained at the Fashion Academy of Antwerp, just like Van Assche.
