Resurrection after bankruptcy 1.5 years ago
Strelli Homme will start
with a range of summer men’s clothing and for the following winter season,
it will be putting the brand in several multi-brand stores through wholesale.
The situation will be reviewed in 2016 and based on that, the initiators will
decide whether to relaunch a women’s clothing range.
The new Strelli Homme is an initiative of Paul Malingreau (former
financial director for Olivier Strelli), Alain De Mol and Carl Mourisse. They
are assisted by designer Jacky Franco, who has worked with Nissim Israël
(Olivier Strelli’s founder) for more than thirty years. It was also Nissim’s son
Olivier who gave him permission to use the Strelli name.
Strelli’s rebirth brings back memories from the old brand’s demise, when it went bankrupt in the middle of 2012 after amassing huge debts, because
it tried to expand too much too fast. In its heydays, Strelli designed custom
clothes for The Rolling Stones, Brigitte Bardot and Stevie Wonder. The fashion company belonged to French EverCapital, when it went
bankrupt.
