Heading towards 1,000 delivery
points
Asda has struck an agreement with Transport for London and plans for a
larger network of some 1,000 click-and-collect
points in the next five years. London and the south
east of England are the main focus, as Asda has fewer sales locations there
than its main competitors.
The Underground click-and-collection points will be in East Finchley, Harrow
& Wealdstone, High Barnet, Highgate, Stanmore and Epping. If the system is considered successful, it
will be expanded to other locations as well.
More accessible
“Customers tell us that they want the prices and quality provided by Asda
value but they can’t access it easily. These click-and-collect points
will solve that”, Asda’s retail director Mark Ibbotson has stated.
Asda has already tested the delivery model in the Park & Ride in
Nottingham and a Reading business park. According to research firm
IGD, the click-and-collect model will
help double turnover from 7.1 billion euro in 2012
to 13.7 billion euro in 2016.
